DEVELOPING YOUR BONSAI

PREPARING BONSAI FROM CUTTING
Choose young branches from a vigorous and healthy plant as older branches are difficult to root and propagate so as not to injure the end of cutting use a stick to make small holes in the soil where the plant will be inserted. Wiring can be done to give the plant a desired shape.

REPOTTING OF THE PLANT

  • An appropriate pot is taken and the holes are covered with wire mesh.
  • Take a wire and pass through the holes. Cover the bottom of the container with coarse soil then spread medium soil, now keep the prepared plant in proper position and tie the wire to the base of the plant to keep in position.
  • Fill the container with medium soil and sprinkle fine soil on top. Water the top layer.
  • Keep it in shade for a week or so and slowly start exposing it to the sun. Repot the plant according to the shape of container and style required. Along with repotting pruning of branches and thinning of roots is also required.
