What about Delegates?

Who will step in for them at Rehearsals?

Will it be you who sits in on sessions to judge speakers and contents? If so, check that they can be heard at the back and that the material is relevant and interesting. Will you be participating in the planned social activities to assess them and make sure they are what delegates want? Study the venue from the delegates’ viewpoint. Is it roomy, comfortable and warm enough? Appraise the overnight accommodation too. Will delegates be happy staying there?

Can your colleagues assist you here, some sitting at the front to assess facial expressions, eye-to-eye contact and so forth while others raise points at a discussion or queries during a question-and-answer session? Can they check out the social programme on your behalf, look closely at the venue and give further opinions on the overnight accommodation? Be careful though – picky people who see this as a serious assessment, not a day off!
