OBEDIENCE
TRAINING
Makes A Dog Feel Important
Obedience training makes a dog feel very special.
Like a child every dog wants to learn to please
to be loved in return. However one cannot teach
every dog the same way. They are "people"
too with definite personalities, inhibitions and
pride. If owners could realize they are dealing
with a personality and study the dog's mind there
would be less trouble in training and happier dogs.
Educating
people to regard themselves from their dog's point
of view and making the course more interesting but
also fun on both the ends is our main purpose.
It
is important to stress consistency in the day-by-day
review of lessons and advisable to practice away
from familiar terrain.
Owners
will not have trained dogs in ten weeks but will
have much better dogs. Stick to it and daily repetition
is what counts. At length they will have the delight
of a canine friend trotting politely beside them
-a pal that can be trusted not to engage unprovoked
attacks remaining quietly in a corner when asked
to do so responding when called. One should always
be glad to see the dog when he comes. And show it
too! Later a weekly brush up should suffice to provide
a harmonious life.
Lame
excuses like "he is too nervous-I can't do
anything with him" or "he is a stupid
dog and won't learn anything" simply reflect
a nervous lazy or idiot owner.
Teaching
people to properly train with their dogs requires
much experience with both dogs and human
kind. Trials are a challenge and can be irritating
if you are not fully prepared. But although dogs
are unpredictable-they cant spill you into the turf
on your noggin' as a horse can. How far you go depends
on you!
(You will learn a lot when you join along with
your dog for our training program. Even after you
decide to have one the prior knowledge taken by
you will prove fruitful in long run.)
