Developing
management skills and techniques- A wedding
co-ordinator has people working under him/her and
it is vital that each one of them work efficiently
to make their project a successful one. He/she has
to understand their nature of work and see to it
that everything gets ready on time. He has to supervise
and guide them. All these things would not be possible
if s/he does not possess managerial skills.
-
Artful
Negotiations-
The main job of a wedding co-ordinator is to
complete the wedding within a budget. He must arrange
for things, which are of good quality and low price.
Getting things at a low price would not be possible
without bargaining. For this he/she has to know
the market trends well. Suppose if he orders flowers
from a florist, he should know before buying how
much it would cost him.
-
Planning
and Co-ordination techniques- A
wedding coordinator as the name suggests co-ordinates
with various people. He has to chalk out his own
budget and decide that out of the money given to
him, how much money should be allocated for what.
He should know to co-ordinate with various people
and should be able to motivate them.
-
Ability
to make quick decisions-
Emergency is one of the main things that a wedding
co-ordinator should be able to handle. It can be
anything like more number of guests, less food or
photographer’s delay in coming. At such testing
times he should know to make instant and sensible
decisions. Emergencies cannot be avoided so one
should know how to handle them.
-
Ability
to remain calm and composed- A wedding co-ordinator
should never get paranoid about anything. He deals
with a number of people and it is highly possible
that his work may not get done in the way he wants.
People would always be there to test his/her patience.
At such times he/she should not lose his/her cool
or get paranoid. Even during emergencies one should
know how to remain calm.
-
Good
self-marketing and Public relations-
A wedding co-ordinator can expand his contacts only
through self-marketing. He should have skills to
market himself. He must recognize his plus points
and make himself well known.
